Windward Coast

I used Gamblin’s Portland greys (light, medium and dark) and Chromatic Black.  The Ampersand gesso board is sometimes lightly brushed with Gamsol solvent before starting the painting.  I’m using fine sable hair brushes (and sometimes my fingers) for these little paintings.

  1. I love Hawaii too. Try the “Paradise” menu drop down in the header of my blog, then “Hawaii”. I am on the Big Island right now snapping away.

    1. The Big Island is wonderful! I love your shots of Volcanoes Park. We hiked through there and it was “other worldly” for sure! I will check out more on your blog… your photos are just outstanding! We liked Oahu this past Dec. but, my favorites are the Big Island, Maui and Kauai. Have fun…I’m a bit jealous!

      1. Thank you. I am enjoying the small size and working quickly. I think the gray monotone may become a bit boring. Some color will appear at some point. probably.

      2. Well I saw a lot of these grey monochrome paintings on your blog and I was surprised how a series didn’t get boring but rather intensified the idea. It was a bit like a virtuoso performance! But I guess colour will appear and I do like your use of it.
