Great painting Anita! It’s great with the way you use the muted colors to create an image of a gray misty day and the last bits of color still defiantly contrasting against the sky and shadowy images of the tree line.
Yes, thank you. Turner is one of my favorites. I had also been looking at Gustave Courbet a lot before doing this painting. The vertical “shafts of rain” in the painting are thanks to him ; )
Thanks very much. It’s multiple layers of transparent or semi-transparent glazes. Also, scumbling opaque colors sometimes, too. It all somehow came together in the end : )
